first things first - let’s chat through a few things..
these glass jars are great for storing salads. i either eat my salad out of the jar on the go. or if i have a bowl, i dump the jar into the bowl to eat.
here are other plastic-free containers i enjoy storing salads in too. they are dishwasher friendly and the large one is great for my big a$$ salads.
i find that salads can be prepped for 3-5 days in the fridge. i suggest adding the lettuce LAST into jars so that it doesn’t get soggy from the other toppings too.
i always always recommend adding the dressing AS you are eating it. i don’t toss my salads in dressing until i am ready to eat them. we don’t want soggy lettuce going on. nothing worse than a soggy salad.
here are cute salad dressing cups to keep the dressing in. these have been spill proof for me and i also use them in the kid’s lunchboxes for sauces and such for them.
i’m a big butter lettuce girlie or romaine i like a crunch to my salad so you’ll notice a lot of my recipes have a crunchy lettuce base.
these recipes below are super customizable to fit within what you are looking for. want extra protein? add some grilled salmon or chicken on top. not into the dressing i suggested? sub your favorite one.
if you are craving even more, add a grain to the salad. some quinoa, rice, buckwheat, etc. are all great to bulk up a salad a bit more. farro is also a great option and a personal favorite of mine!
let’s chat DRESSINGS..
okay i am very particular about salad dressing. when i am not making my own i buy side dish because it is truly so delicious!!
when i am making my own, i use top notch ingredients because dressing makes or breaks the salad. when it comes to sweetening the dressing, you always need at least a smidge of something sweet to balance the acidity of a dressing. my go-to? wedderspoon manuka honey! they just launched an exclusive USDA Certified Organic Manuka Honey MGO 50+ and MGO 100+ line in Whole Foods Market nationwide (AMAZING). and it is on sale until 4/22 so run and stock up! i use it for many many other things besides dressings too like my immunity shots, no-bake desserts, by the spoonful for immunity and it’s a staple in my daily routine. don’t skip it for your kitchen too! and your salad dressings - easy way to get in the nutritional benefits of manuka honey. this honey mustard one i make is a FAVE!
